 Kobe Bryant, an NBA legend often hailed as the Eighth Wonder of The World has been selected as the cover athlete for NBA 2K24. Recently, 2K announced that Bryant, a five-time NBA Champion, an 18-time All-Star, a two-time finals MVP, and an 11-time ALL-NBA first-teamer, will grace the covers of both the Black Mamba Edition and the Kobe Bryant edition. Known for his exceptional skills, Bryant is regarded as one of the most well-rounded players in the history of the NBA. Apart from being a two-time NBA scoring champion, he also earned the distinction of being a nine-time NBA all-defensive first-teamer.



Tragically, on January 26th, 2021, Bryant, his thirteen-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others lost their lives in a devastating helicopter crash. This incident shook the nation, and people continue to pay tribute to one of the greatest basketball players ever to grace the court. Take-Two Interactive is once again honoring Bryant by featuring him in the NBA 2K series, as depicted on the cover of the Black Mamba Edition. The chosen image portrays Kobe in the latter years of his career, showcasing his status as an accomplished player and a guaranteed Hall-of-Famer.




The Kobe Bryant Edition showcases a youthful depiction of Bryant, donning his No. 8 jersey and sporting his recognizable hairstyle.




During the 2006-2007 season, Bryant made a significant change by transitioning from wearing No. 8 to No. 24. Reflecting on this decision in an interview with Baxter Holmes of ESPN, Bryant remarked, "Then 24 is a progression from that. While my physical abilities may not be what they used to be, my maturity level has grown. Marriage, children, and a broader perspective as one of the older players on the team have all contributed to this evolution."



Bryant, who is widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed athletes in the history of sports, has graced the NBA 2K cover for the fourth time with his appearance on the 2K24 cover. He previously served as the cover athlete for the NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition, NBA 2K17 Legend Edition, and NBA 2K10.
