NBA 2K23 Gameplay Features REVEALED!

Following the release of the NBA 2K23 gameplay clip last week, 2K has just unveiled all of the new gameplay information and enhancements for this year's version of the game. A few examples of the gameplay enhancements are as follows:

NBA 2K23 Shot Meters
NBA 2K23 will be an innovative release for many reasons, and that starts by including 20 shot meter options.
These shot meters won't all be available at launch, with 5 options on launch day, and 15 more to come as unlockables throughout the year.

NBA 2K23 Badges

This year, NBA 2K23 will roll out a new badge system for users of next-generation platforms (Xbox Series X, PS5). To begin with, a tier system will now be used to rank badges. This will make it harder for players to stack the most potent badges in the game and make it easier to manage the meta.

NBA 2K23 Dribbling Changes

NBA 2K23 dribbling will be much more controlled courtesy of some new features like Adrenaline Boost. This will make it so players will be punished for overdribbling and trying to do too much with the ball in regards to dribble moves, a massive problem for the series in online play.

Shooting

Agent 3 - Ability to hit difficult 3PT shots off the dribble
Middy Magician - Improved ability to knock down mid-range jumpers off the bounce or out of the post like MJ
Amped - Reduces the shooting attribute penalties when fatigued and when moving excessively prior to shooting
Claymore - Increases a spot up shooter’s ability to knock down catch and shoot jumpers the longer they remain stationary prior to shooting
Comeback Kid - Improved ability to shoot perimeter jumpers when trailing in a game
Hand Down Man Down - Makes an outside shooter even deadlier if opponent fails to get a hand in the face
Space Creator - Formerly a Playmaking badge, it now boosts the ability to hit stepback jumpers and hop shots, and also will cause defenders to stumble more often
Limitless Range - An old favorite returns, making shooters more effective with any shot attempt from deep 3PT range

Playmaking

Killer Combos - Improves a dribbler’s effectiveness with size-up dribble moves (basically a combination of last year’s Quick Chain and Tight Handles badges)
Clamp Breaker - Helps ball handlers win more 1-on-1 body bump confrontations (the counter to Clamps)
Vice Grip - Improves ball security immediately after securing a rebound, catch, or picking up the ball. Great badge for bigs!
Mismatch Expert - Formerly a shooting badge, this badge now helps smaller guards break down taller defenders when mismatched 1-on-1

NBA 2K23 Pro Stick Dunking Control Map

With the latest gameplay breakdown from 2K, there are some notable changes coming to the NBA 2K23 pro stick that we're all excited about.

We'll cover things such as ball-handling and shooting in other pieces but first, we're going to talk about how dunking will be affected.

The NBA 2K23 pro stick control map will provide players with exactly that, control. No more do you need to worry about flashy dunks when driving to the paint, only to be blocked by the opposing center.

Here's the control map for the pro stick in NBA 2K23:

UP = Two-Hand
RIGHT = Strong Hand
LEFT = Weak Hand
DOWN = Rim Hang
UP-UP = Flashy Two-Hand
DOWN-UP = Flashy One-Hand
UP-DOWN = Normal Skill Dunk with meter
DOWN-DOWN = Rim Hang Skill Dunk with meter

Defense/Rebounding

A key badge for bigs in the last line of defense, Anchor enhances their capacity to block and contest shots in the paint.
Boxout Beast - Aids rebounders in both offensive and defensive rebounding situations by helping them win boxout battles.
Work Horse: The Pat Bev badge that improves your stamina to play tenacious defense and hustle down 50/50 balls.
Handle the ball away from ball handlers and strip players as they assemble for shoots with the Gary Payton-inspired glove.
Challenger: Increases the efficiency of matches using perimeter shots.
